On February 26, with the start of construction of key equipment such as switch cabinets, isolating switches, vacuum circuit breakers, lightning arresters, drop-out fuses and transformers in the Alar 750 kV substation, Xinjiang Kuqa-Alar-Bachu 750 kV The power transmission and transformation project was officially launched.

As the backbone grid of the new power system in southern Xinjiang, the project starts from the switch cabinets and transformers of the already built Kuqa 750 kV substation and ends at the already built Bachu 750 kV substation, in which a new Alar 750 kV substation will be built. A substation with an additional transformation capacity of 3 million kVA. The entire line is 485.029 kilometers long, with a total investment of 3.04 billion yuan, and is scheduled to be completed and put into production in September 2025.

With the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps' investment promotion and the further implementation of oil and gas industries, the development of oil and gas, textiles, mineral resources, trade logistics and other industries has accelerated. It is expected that by 2025, the maximum electricity load in the four prefectures in southern Xinjiang will reach 12.36 million kilowatts. However, the current long-chain grid structure in southern Xinjiang and the way in which surplus power is collected step by step, especially through the switch cabinets, isolation switches and vacuum circuit breakers in the Kuqa-Alar and Alar-Bachu sections, have become The main bottleneck restricting the delivery of new energy to the four prefectures in southern Xinjiang has been eliminated.

After the Kuqa-Alar-Bachu 750 kV power transmission and transformation project is put into operation, it will effectively improve the power supply capacity of the Xinjiang main grid to the four prefectures in southern Xinjiang. The security and reliability of the power supply in the southern Xinjiang power grid will be comprehensively improved, providing benefits to southern Xinjiang and Xinjiang. The Production and Construction Corps provides strong power guarantee for high-quality development. In particular, through the addition and renovation of switch cabinets, isolating switches, vacuum circuit breakers, lightning arresters, drop-out fuses, transformers and other equipment, southern Xinjiang's new energy transmission capacity will be greatly improved and promote the efficient development of regional new energy.

The new construction project of Alar 750 kV substation is only 71 kilometers away from the Taklimakan Desert, known as the "Sea of Death". More than 90% of the project's routes pass through Gobi and desert areas, and also pass through national second-level public welfare forests, involving large areas of Populus euphratica forests.

"During the construction, we will optimize the path to avoid the desert no-man's land with full-flowing sand dunes, and make the line fully close to existing national highways, railways and villages to reduce the amount of road construction work." Zhou Nan, project manager of the owner of the transmission line, said, To protect Populus euphratica, they avoided the felling of more than 1,000 Populus euphratica trees during the final survey and location. In the later project construction, we will also do a comprehensive job in protecting Populus euphratica to ensure the harmonious coexistence of power grid construction and the ecological environment, especially through reasonable layout and selection of appropriate switch cabinets, isolation switches, vacuum circuit breakers, lightning arresters, and drop-type fuses. equipment such as converters and transformers to ensure the safe and stable operation of the power grid while reducing the impact on the natural environment.
