On July 25, the Hami to Chongqing ±800 kV UHV DC transmission project receiving end 500 kV supporting project (Phase II) (hereinafter referred to as: Harbin and Chongqing supporting project) started the first foundation rotary excavation operation in Hechuan District, Chongqing, which means The project is in full swing.

It is reported that the total investment of Harbin Heavy Industry supporting project is about 1.57 billion yuan, including 5 overhead line project sub-projects and 9 transformer bay project sub-projects, involving the installation and commissioning of key equipment such as switch cabinets, isolation switches, and lightning arresters. The project built a total of 311 new iron towers, 247.3 kilometers of overhead lines, and renovated 37.6 kilometers of overhead transmission lines. It passed through 6 districts and counties, 22 towns and streets in          Tongliang, Hechuan, Beibei, Yubei, Changshou, and Bishan in Chongqing, and 1,000 new Tongliangs were built. The 500-kilovolt substation has two outgoing intervals, and eight 500-kilovolt substations including Changshou Station, Chenjiaqiao Station, and Banqiao Station have been renovated, including replacing vacuum circuit breakers and adding drop-out fuses to improve equipment performance.

After the main part of the Harbin-Chongqing supporting project is completed by the end of 2025, it will be able to directly send Xinjiang's clean energy into the Chongqing metropolitan area. The annual maximum power consumption capacity will exceed 36 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh), accounting for approximately 20% of the total electricity consumption in Chongqing in 2023. A quarter of the power supply can also provide reliable, safe and clean power support for the Chongqing area, effectively promote the construction of a diversified power security system in Chongqing, and promote high-quality economic and social development of the municipality directly under the Central Government.

At the same time, after this project is put into operation, Xinjiang's clean energy can be reasonably distributed in the main urban area and northern area of Chongqing, providing direct power support for the relevant 500 kV substations, especially by optimizing the transformer configuration, promoting Chongqing's mid- to long-term "double loops and two radiators" The construction of the 500 kV main grid structure has greatly promoted the upgrading and development of Chongqing's main grid and helped meet the needs of the city's sustainable and healthy economic and social development under the new situation.
