Modernization Of Grid Infrastructure Drives Demand For High-voltage Electrical Equipment

Jul 05, 2025 Leave a message

As part of a nationwide plan to modernize and stabilize the grid system, the energy department announced an increase in procurement of key high-voltage electrical equipment, including high-voltage disconnect switches, oil-immersed power transformers, and indoor vacuum circuit breakers. These components are essential to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable power transmission and distribution in urban and rural areas.

According to a recent report from the National Energy Administration, the demand for high-voltage disconnect switches has risen significantly due to their critical role in isolating sections of the grid during maintenance or emergencies. These switches allow utility workers to safely manage electrical systems by ensuring that no current flows through disconnected lines.

Meanwhile, the deployment of oil-immersed power transformers remains at the heart of long-distance transmission projects. These transformers are known for their excellent thermal management and durability under heavy loads. As renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar farms, expand in remote areas, oil transformers are widely used to step up voltage levels for efficient transmission over long distances.

The third key component driving infrastructure development is the vacuum circuit breaker, which is gaining popularity due to its fast response time, low maintenance requirements and environmental benefits. Unlike traditional air or oil-based circuit breakers, vacuum technology enables more efficient arc extinguishing, reduces downtime and improves the operational safety of indoor substations.
Modernizing grid infrastructure is not just about expanding capacity, but improving reliability and resilience. High-voltage disconnectors, oil-based power transformers and indoor vacuum circuit breakers are foundational technologies supporting the development of smart grids, helping us integrate clean energy into the national network.
Industry analysts predict that the market for these devices will continue to grow over the next decade, driven by government investment and the global shift to sustainable energy system

This ongoing modernization effort highlights the importance of advanced electrical equipment in supporting China's ambitious energy transition goals while ensuring uninterrupted power supply to millions of homes and industries across the country.
