As an archipelago country, the Philippines has more than 7,000 islands, and many remote islands have long faced the dual challenges of unstable power supply and typhoon disasters. In 2023, the Philippine Department of Energy proposed the goal of "50% renewable energy in 2030", and energy upgrading in off-grid areas has become a key task. Hebei Yueyang Power combines the unique geographical and climatic conditions of the Philippines to tailor highly adaptable power equipment and localized services to effectively solve the power supply problems of islands.
Face the challenge, from problems to solutions. The customer proposed that the Philippines encounters more than 20 typhoons per year, typhoons occur frequently, equipment is severely damaged, and traditional power equipment is often paralyzed by strong winds and rainstorms. According to customer needs, Yueyang Power upgraded the anti-typhoon solution: equipped with 24kV vacuum circuit breakers and redundant spring energy storage mechanisms, even if the typhoon cuts off the external power supply, it can still be manually opened quickly to prevent the spread of faults. The 72.5kV rotary disconnector, stainless steel anti-salt spray coating and IP68 sealing design are used to successfully resist the 60m/s wind speed of super typhoons. At the same time, considering that the annual precipitation in the coastal areas of the Philippines exceeds 4,000 mm, salt spray corrosion causes the life of ordinary equipment to be shortened by more than half. Transocean Power proposed a moisture-proof and corrosion-resistant design: moisture-proof prefabricated cabin switchgear, built-in intelligent humidity control system, epoxy resin cast transformer surface to form an anti-corrosion layer, adapting to the perennial humid environment. And use composite insulators, silicone rubber jacket with fiberglass core rod, double erosion resistance to ultraviolet and salt spray, the failure rate is 70% lower than that of traditional ceramic insulators.
Secondly, each post-disaster repair is slow, and people's livelihood and economy are damaged. The average power outage repair time after the typhoon is more than 3 days, which seriously affects residents' lives and commercial operations. Transocean Power recommends that customers establish a localized spare parts warehouse, set up central warehouses in Manila and Cebu, covering Luzon Island, Mindanao Island and other areas, to ensure that emergency spare parts are delivered within 72 hours.
An off-grid community in Palawan Island has long relied on diesel power generation, which is costly and polluting. After the deployment of customized "photovoltaic storage diesel hybrid system" - photovoltaic-energy storage switchgear supports 100kW solar energy access, and intelligently coordinates and controls with diesel units. The proportion of renewable energy power supply increased to 65%, and diesel consumption decreased by 40%. The community saved $120,000 in annual operating costs and reduced carbon emissions by 35 tons. The stability of power supply during the typhoon season was significantly improved, and there was no power outage of more than 24 hours.
The customer said: "Hebei Yueyang's typhoon prevention equipment performed well, and the power supply restoration time was shortened from 3 days in the past to 12 hours. Their solution saved us 15% of the post-disaster maintenance costs, and truly achieved "quick response and reliable guarantee."
