With the last conductor of the 500 kV transmission project of Huadian Baiyinhua Jinshan Power Plant in Ximeng, East Inner Mongolia, connected, two UHV supporting projects undertaken by the Construction Branch of State Grid Mengdong Electric Power Company - the 500 kV transmission project of Jiangsu Energy Ulagai Power Plant in Ximeng, East Inner Mongolia, and the 500 kV transmission project of Huadian Baiyinhua Jinshan Power Plant in Ximeng, East Inner Mongolia, were fully connected on the same day. During the design and construction of these two projects, a large number of key equipment such as switch cabinets, disconnectors, lightning arresters, vacuum circuit breakers, drop-out fuses and transformers were used.
The 500 kV transmission project of Jiangsu Energy Ulagai Power Plant in Ximeng, East Inner Mongolia, and the 500 kV transmission project of Huadian Baiyinhua Jinshan Power Plant in Ximeng, East Inner Mongolia, are key projects for national energy supply security and will be started simultaneously in April 2024. The project includes the construction of a new Baiyinhua 500 kV transmission switch station, which is equipped with advanced transformers and switch cabinets, as well as necessary disconnectors and vacuum circuit breakers to ensure the stability and safety of power transmission; at the same time, a new 500 kV transmission line of 803 kilometers is built, and multiple drop-out fuses and lightning arresters are set along the way to protect the line from lightning strikes and short circuits; in addition, 1,862 new power grid towers are built, and the total dynamic investment of the two projects is 2.419 billion yuan.
Both projects are located in Xilin Gol League, Inner Mongolia. The power grid lines start from Xilingol League Jiangsu Energy Ulagai Power Plant and Xilingol League Huadian Baiyinhua Jinshan Power Plant respectively. The power of the power plant passes through the Baiyinhua transmission switch station equipped with transformers and vacuum circuit breakers, Xilingol League ±800 kV converter station, and finally reaches Jiangsu Province through the ultra-high voltage "power highway", which can deliver 16.6 billion degrees (kWh) of electricity to Jiangsu Province every year.
As supporting projects of the ±800 kV UHV DC transmission channel from Ximeng to Taizhou, the two projects, after being put into operation, can not only meet the growing demand for electricity in Jiangsu Province and ease the environmental protection pressure in the Yangtze River Delta, but also further promote Xilinguole League to transform its energy advantages into economic advantages. Behind these achievements, the stable operation and efficient coordination of key equipment such as switch cabinets, disconnectors, lightning arresters, vacuum circuit breakers, drop-out fuses and transformers are indispensable, with good economic and social benefits.
It is reported that since the upstream power plants use advanced and efficient ultra-supercritical coal-fired power generation technology, the downstream enterprises use the UHV power grid to efficiently transmit electricity and rely on the reliable operation of these key equipment, so after the two projects are officially put into operation, carbon dioxide emissions can be reduced by 629,000 tons per year, which will play a positive role in improving the atmospheric environment quality in East China, and are of great significance to achieving the complementary national resource advantages, improving the level of energy security, and enhancing energy supply capabilities.
