The closing bounce time of a circuit breaker is the time from the beginning of contact when the circuit breaker is closed, followed by separation, which may come into contact and then separate, to its stable contact.
This parameter is not explicitly specified in foreign standards. At the end of 1989, the Electric Power Department of the Ministry of Energy proposed that the closing and bouncing time of vacuum circuit breakers must be less than 2ms. Why is the closing bounce time less than 2ms? The main reason is that the moment of closing and bouncing can cause L.C high-frequency oscillation in the power system or equipment, and the overvoltage generated by the oscillation may cause damage or even damage to the insulation of electrical equipment. When closing and bouncing; When it is less than 2ms, there will be no significant overvoltage, the equipment insulation will not be damaged, and there will be no fusion welding between the moving and stationary contacts during closing.
The different periodicity of closing is too large, which can easily cause bouncing when closing, because the motion impulse output by the mechanism is only borne by the first closing phase contact. The varying periodicity of opening may prolong the arcing time of the rear open phase pipe and reduce the breaking capacity.
The different periodicity of closing and opening generally exists simultaneously, so adjusting the different periodicity of closing ensures the different periodicity of opening. The requirement in the product is that the asynchrony of closing and opening should be less than 2ms.
The opening and closing time refers to the time interval from the moment when the terminals of the operating coil are powered on to the moment when all three pole contacts are closed or separated.
The closing and opening coils are designed for short-term operation, with a power-on time of less than 100ms for the closing coil and less than 60ms for the opening coil. The opening and closing times are generally set when the circuit breaker leaves the factory and do not need to be moved again.
When a circuit breaker is used in a power generation system and short-circuited near the power source, the attenuation of fault current is slow. If the opening time is short, the fault current that the circuit breaker opens may contain a large DC component, and the opening conditions are even worse, which is very unfavorable for the opening of the circuit breaker. Therefore, for vacuum circuit breakers used in power generation systems, it is advisable to design their opening time as long as possible.
